Ukraine: Basic Medical Care and Winter Emergency Aid
This project provides heating material for the coming winter for people in the Kherson region and supports the establishment of basic medical care.
The Kherson region has been hit hard by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The three villages of Ponyativka, Tokariwka and Iwaniwka, close to the front line, are home to mainly elderly and infirm people who are unable to leave the region. Many of these households are facing considerable difficulties due to the damaged infrastructure. The coming winter will present them with considerable challenges.
Furthermore, access to medical services is limited or even impossible due to the damaged infrastructure. Some vital medical care is no longer guaranteed in this region.
Due to this situation and the approaching winter, the project will provide heating material and enable the construction of a mobile medical centre, which will be implemented together with the Ukrainian partner organisation New Dawn.
The project will:
– Ensure that vulnerable residents (179 households) in three frontline villages of Daryivvska Hromada have access to fuel for heating to reduce the risk of cold-related illness or death.
– Set up a mobile clinic. This will provide access to basic health services to meet the urgent medical needs of the surrounding population (approximately 400 patients per month). The construction includes setting up a mobile medical clinic in a containerised structure and equipping the clinic with the most important medical equipment.
